P.I. Works and Turkcell Successfully Showcase the Automated Massive MIMO Management Solution

ISTANBUL--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- P.I. Works, the leading provider of automated network planning, management and optimization solutions, has announced the successful deployment of its automated mMIMO (Massive MIMO) management solution to Turkcell’s network. The project comes as an extension of the centralized SON contract (Self Organizing Networks) with Turkcell and is a major milestone in the densification of Turkcell’s network and its transition to 5G.

P.I. Works has been a long-standing network automation partner of Turkcell. P.I. Works and Turkcell have successfully completed the largest Centralized SON project worldwide in terms of the number of modules deployed, which has also been recognized with an award at the “Self-Organizing Networks World.”

Now, both companies took a major step that will expedite Turkcell’s network densification efforts and ensure the delivery of ultra high speed experience in urban areas with Turkcell’s powerful 4.5G infrastructure. As a part of the project, P.I. Works Centralized SON solution has been used to automate Turkcell’s LTE-FDD (non-mMIMO) and LTE-TDD (mMIMO) network. During busy hours, in case of additional capacity need, the traffic on LTE-FDD cells were offloaded to high capacity LTE-TDD mMIMO cells. The automated load balancing actions handled approximately 50% more concurrent users and data volume in hotspot locations during busy hours.
